Food Authorities in many countries may be planning to cut down on herbal remedies such as St Johns Wort and Kava Kava.
Already Kava has been banned in the UK.
LETS SAY SOMETHING TO THESE AUTHORITIES BEOFRE THEY TAKE OUR LIBERTIES AWAY.

Kava Kava is no longer available in Canada either. I'm not sure why and I've not kept up on the news reports about this, but St. John's Wort is certainly available -- and I doubt it will be taken off the market anytime soon. You can buy it almost everywhere nowadays, from grocery stores, drugstores, health food stores, you name it. They even put misiscule amounts in soft drinks nowadays, I know this is true for both Canada and the U.S. So, in North America it's unlikely we'll have any issues with this... however in the UK and Europe (as well as other countries) it may be a different story.
Sonic - I noticed that you posted the same message in two different areas. I've deleted the thread in the Experiences section as it is identical to the one here.

I agree that banning Kava is an over-reaction to the recent health scares surrounding it, but I'd be surprised if the authorities were going to ban SJW too. It's been shown to have an excellent safety record in numerous clinical trials, and is a very popular herbal remedy. Perhaps they're planning to make it available on prescription only. I'd be in two minds about such a move. On the one hand, maybe doctors would start prescribing SJW in preference to the SSRIs and other pharmaceuticals which have more side effects (in Germany, where SJW is available on prescription and over the counter, SJW is the most commonly prescribed antidepressant). On the other hand, having SJW available over the counter is a good, safe solution for those who, for one reason or another, don't want to go to the doctor and it would be a shame to take that away.
I'd be interested to know where you heard about this. I can't say I'm too worried about it at the moment, but maybe you know something I don't.
