Topic Title: anxiety/over-worrying and SJW

I was just curious if anyone has tried SJW to help with feelings of anxiety and in cases of low-self esteem, and obsessive worrying about things one can not control. Over the last few years I've had to deal with these issues more and more, along with the depression that comes along with it. My wife suggested that I try SJW (again). I was on Paxil for a short time and had a bad reaction to it, so I'm willing to try anything that helps and doesn't keep me awake at nights. Thanks in advance.

Yeah I had some kind of problem posting yesterday. I use ST. John's wort for anxiety and its worked for me. Just like you I had anxiety that was making me depressed, not the other way around. Anyway, I found that St. John's Wort reduced both the anxiety and the depression - I hope it works for you.

Hi
My main problem is anxiety, and the depression caused by that (NOT, as I keep trying to tell my doctor, vice versa:-). From what I have read on these forums, a lot of people have found their anxiety greatly helped by SJW. Personally, I have been on it for four and a half weeks and .. I simply can't tell. My mood seems to be varying from day to day and I can't yet assess - it's probably too early anyway - what the overall effect has been. But, as I said, I have read that a lot of people have found it useful.
I also tried Paxil and reacted badly to it, so I am fervently hoping that this will help and I will not have to go back to prescription drugs.

Hi... I am taking SJW for the same reason...anxiety and worrying, both of which I've never experienced until about a year and a half ago. I started taking SJW about four weeks ago and I am noticing a difference. I feel calmer, I don't overreact (or haven't yet anyway..!) and I think I just feel more peaceful. I was taking it at night, but started taking it in the morning, just because it seems more convenient and I feel much more energetic taking it in the a.m for some reason. Anyway, I highly recommend it for anxiety and even for PMS...that seems to have disappeared as well!!!

Thanks for the reply! I am glad that you found something for the anxiety/worrying. I know for myself how bad that can be, and how it can break your self-confidence. I am hopeful that I can use the SJW instead of prescription meds, but I will leave that option open. For now, I am just glad that I feel more relaxed, especially at work, where tension was keeping me from making much progress. I have issues I must handle, like issues with my neighbor, that are tough to tackle at home. But, anyways I am grateful for your response and all the others. I feel that I am on a good track, if not the right one.
