Topic Title: SJW vs SAM-e
| | "SJW vs SAM-e" , Mon 8 Apr 12:06
I just started taking SJW a few weeks ago and notice an improvement in my mood. I've been reading about SAM-e and its effect on mood AND arthritis. Since I also have arthritis, I wonder if I should switch to SAM-e. On the other hand, I'm not sure if I should rock the boat and try something new. And if I do switch, what is the best way to do this? Thanks, Shalinda

If you were to switch, you could probably just go from one to the other straight away. From what I've read, they are not thought to interact with each other, although I can't find any links about it.
Have you considered taking both together? It might be worth speaking to a practitioner because there are a lot of different combinations you could be combining here e.g. SJW plus glucosamine or MSM.

At this time, I am taking SJW and glucosamine/chondroitin together. I'm wondering if I could throw SAM-e into that mix. I could use a little extra help with my mood and arthritis, however, I'm not sure if I'll be overdoing it. Thanks, Shalinda

Bearing in mind that I'm not a doctor ... SAM-e is generally not thought to interact with any medication, and no-one has ever claimed an interaction with SJW in any of the literature I've read.
As for overdoing it, I don't know the answer. Sorry.

I've been on sam-e for about 5 months and I am very satisfied witht the results. Also, there doesn't seem to be any side affects, such as sensitivity to light. I stopped sjw on one day and started to take sam-e two days later.

How long have you been on SAMe now? Has it worked well for depression and or anxiety, if you had this? Were you ever on prescribed anti-depressants? What brand of SAMe are you taking and dosage. ??
Thanks a bunch

Boso! I was wondering how it was going with you and the Sam-e!! Thanks for checking back in and letting everyone know! A couple weeks ago I bought some Sam-e, and was going to start taking it as it got warmer and sunnier, as I spend more time outdoors. Getting by wonderfuly on on tablet of Kira a day. I'm wondering how much the Ginkgold I started in the fall is helping, too. And I'm still using my light box, I've usually quit by this time of the year. Taking better care of myself, feeling soooo much better! Glad to hear about you and the Sam-e!!
