"Three of Nature's Way's formulas." , Sun 5 Oct 00:17

I've been looking over the board as to a SJW supplier and it seems that Nature's Way has a favorable product. When I went to go look up what they had, this is what I found:

Perika - 1 tablet, 300mg @ 3%hyperforin. Has Hypersure System to keep potency up.

SJW Extract - 2 capsules, 450mg Standardized.

Mood Aid(SJW/5-HTP) - 1 capsule X 3 a day, Korean Ginseng, dried extract - 33.3 mg - N/A
L-5 Hydroxytryptophan (griffonia bean extract) - 3.33 mg - N/A
Niacin, vitamin B-3 - 3.33 mg - 17%
Riboflavin, vitamin B-2 - 284 mcg - 17%
Scullcap Herb - 100 mg - N/A
St. John's Wort, dried extract .3% dianthrones measures as Hypericin - 300 mg - N/A
Thiamine, vitamin B-1 - 350 mcg - 17%
Vitamin B-12, cyanacobalamin - 1 mcg - 17%
Vitamin B-6, pyridoxineHCl - 330 mcg - 17%

Rough prices as of post time(U.S.):

Perika - $8.50 60 tablet, 300mg @ 1 tablet
SJW Extract - $9.00 90 capsules, 450mg @ 2 capsules
Mood Aid - $11.00 60 caplets, 300mg SJW/3.33mg 5-HTP @ 1 capsule

SOOOOOO.....after ALL that, ;)

Do you think the Perika - with the solid potentcy, the Extract - with the higher dosage (I'm 6'1", 260lbs.), or Mood Aid with all the extra goodies is going to be the best route? I know that my body will react differently with each one, but I wanted to see what people thought of spending the extra money on the 5-HTP.

Thank you in advance

Dear Brucifer,

If it were me, I would go for 'Perika'.

I have also noticed the other Nature's Way product, which you mention, but to me it seems a bit of a rag-bag of different remedies.

Once you go on these Boards you realise that there are literally dozens of possible 'cures' for stress and depression. Some people probably keep cupboards full of this or that herbal remedy.

I think in the first instance it is probably sensible to keep it simple and stick to a single, proven treatment like SJW.

Perika seems to be the current brand leader in SJW, and I can certainly vouch for it, because I use it myself.

Good luck,

Sheephead.

I would also opt for the Perika for the same reasons given by sheephead, and one more--whatever happens as a result of the Perika, be it good or bad, is more easily traced because the list of ingredients is simpler. Whatever happens, you know it's sjw. With the other stuff, it's harder to tell what the cause is. And of course you can still try the other stuff, just in a separate pill.

Also, the Perika should probably be taken three times a day, not once. If you take three a day the dose will be the same as the regular SJW extract (900 mg), but Perika is probably the best product because it contains ingredients that prevent the potency of the SJW (as measured by the level of hyperforin) from degrading over time.

The third product contains some good stuff, but I agree that it's best to keep things simple and add one thing at a time so that you know which one is working for you. You can always start taking a separate vitamin B complex or 5HTP later if you feel you need it.

Thank you all for your responses. I was leaning towards the Mood Aid, but as you suggested, keeping it simple is the best plan.

I'm not sure if my depression is chemical or environmental. This does not mean my life is out of control, but I've been apathetic towards a lot for some time now. I'll see where I stand a month or two after starting Perika and maybe I'll switch over to Mood Aid at that point in time, but for now it's best that I see if SJW is going to work for me.
