using for about a week and a half. It's by Spring Valley (standardized Extract)300mg. The bottle recommends that an adult take (2) capsules three times a day. That seemed like to much and after reading comments from the board I take 3 tablets a day. Do you think thats good or should I get a brand that states that three tablets be taken a day. ( that is also 300mg) Maybe what I have is fine, just wondering. Things seem ok just wanted some suggestions.

Hi..I have the answer to your question. If you take another look at the bottle it says serving size is 2 capsules. This means that to get the .3% of the hypericin you need to take the 2 capsules....in other words to get the 900mg daily...that would be 6 pills a day. I did call Spring Valley today and spoke to someone and they explained it to me. So in reality each pill only has .15% in it. Not very clear on the bottle is it??? Wasn't to me. I thought the label was incorrect.

If it says to take 6 tablets a day, then it's probably a lower-strength extract. Have a look at what it says for the "hypericin" content ... it will probably say 0.15%.
I've never seen a manufacturer's instructions advise taking too much SJW. In fact, they usually go under the common dosage.

the bottle has (hypericum perforatum)(aeril)
(standardized to contain 0.3% hypericin,0.9mg) If this means anything to you. Suggested use: adults, take (2) capsules three times daily, preferably with meals. got it from walmart (spring valley) I may check into a different brand

Interesting! You were right in that case -- they are regular 0.3% capsules i.e. standard ones. The expected dose would be 3 per day, instead of the 6 per day they recommend.
Out of interest, is this what your bottle looks like?

Hey I was using the Spring Valley brand from WalMart and it said to take 1 capsule 3 times daily. I left Spring Valley because it did nothing for my anxiety. Well it helped my depression symptoms but now I'm taking a much better brand, Natures Way.
