after weaning off the SSRI I was taking. Yuk, weaning was a nasty experience. I started with 200mgs last night, and my plan is to take 200mgs X3 daily. Came up w/this after reading the 5HTP info available at this link..

Diana,
Good luck I hope it works for you. You may experience an increase in anxiety for the first couple of days, tiredness and vivid dreams are some other side effects. I used to take 250mg 5htp with coffee in the morning and I didn't experience tiredness, and another 250 in the afternoon around 3 pm. As you are feeling better you should consider other things as well, like exercise, meditation, therapy, listening to uplifting music, whatever it takes to feel better and heal the depression.

hey
i have been on Paxil and still on Effexor for a while. i am quiting effexor now. i know how painful it is quit these medicines.
i haven't tried 5 HTP though. i am looking forward to hearing from you about this experience. please keep us posted about your experience as someone who also tried SSRIs.
