I was talking with a nutritionist and she mentioned what a miracle cure Sam-E can be for people depressed. She also mentioned that you can't take it if you are bipolar.
That statement made me curious because I have a father with bipolar.
Will Sam-E cause a manic episode in those with bipolar?

it works - I started with 200mg (before breakfast) then upped it to 400mg a week later, a week later added 200mg just before lunch - I do better if I spread it during the day (same with the mood stabilizer meds) - at times got a little hypomanic but that passed with rest/relaxtion. I keep a daily log of my experiences and double check with my wife to see if what she notices is similar/different than my experience.
