It is the fifth day on SJW. I am now taling the regular 900 mg a day. I feel totally out of it like Im a zombie, but I feel really depressed. I don't get it. When will I feel the effects kick in? I don't even take pleasure in things I used to take pleasure in anymore.

I posted a similar question earlier today. Here's the thing--if SJW actually works the way everybody says it does, the first two weeks are likely to cause increased problems because SJW is a reuptake inhibitor. You're currently in the stage where your brain is throttling the production of all of the neurotransmitters that SJW is supposed to promote, specifically because SJW is promoting them. Your brain is overcompensating, so you have an even lower supply of serotonin, dopamine et al. than you started with.

What you need to wait for is for those throttling mechanisms to stop being so eager (I believe the clinical term is "desensitization of the autoreceptors"), which takes at least a few weeks.

What this means is, if my optimism is not misplaced, the way you feel now--zombielike and depressed--is the exact opposite of what the ultimate effect will be once it "switches on" (or, rather, once your neuron autoreceptors stop overcompensating for it).

Think of it as narcotics in reverse.

So if this depression and fugue is exactly the kind of feeling you wanted to get rid of, then SJW is, in fact, exactly what you want. But it will suck for, I'd guess, about a month. Maybe more, as I suspect severe depression from reuptake inhibitors suggests an increased sensitivity which would take longer to erode.

(I'm on day 12 myself, and it didn't even seem to have hit it's lowest point until around day 10. That may mean another 10 days before I'll feel normal, and another 10 days before I'll feel better than normal...It's a good thing I'm well-adjusted to being miserable.)

Unless you give it AT LEAST 2-3 weeks you're not going to notice a difference with any brand. None of them are going to work fully after just 5 days. It can take up to 6 weeks for it to start working, so if you give up now what was the point of even trying it??

I started SJW 6 weeks ago. I was feeling bad after a burnout so I decided to start with SJW. I also thought I would have another effect from it. I felt a little bit more stable but not at all happier or so. I had that strange dizzy feeling and a little like zombie yes :). So I stopped using it after 10 days.
I gave my body time to heal a little, had a lack of vitamines so i started with multi vitamines for 2 weeks now. And that seemed to help a lot for me. Not really for the depression ( if i had one ) but for my energy level, i'm able to do things now.

I started 2 days ago with SJW ( one capsule 425 mg) and the feeling is totally different than the first time. The dizzy, zombie like feeling has gone and i'm not so tired during day. So I'll give it a try now.

I'll suggest maybe u try take some multi vitamines first to take ur energy level back up. Don't give up, I've been through terrible 2 months myself, believe me.

Alex

Ok, in my previous post i said i would give SJW another chance. Well I can say i feel "brighter" but i feel like my personality has changed, don't like this feeling at all. Also some kind of anxiety, and sleep pattern has changed.
Maybe I was a little less "brighter" before but at least I felt good, with my body and so, and self confident.
I'm just slowly gonna continue with vitamines and just give it time to get better.
So now im sure, no SJW for me ...
