I have had severe panic attacks and depression for the last year or so and have tried several anti-depressants and anxiety medications such as Cymbalta, Lexapro and Paxil...I have had major side effects with each..so bad to the point that I had to stop taking them after 6 weeks or so...I still have not found anything that is helping and my panic attacks are getting worse and worse...to the point that they are immobilizing me. I ordered Clarocet b/c i did some research on it and I am crossing my fingers that it will help--does anyone have any other suggestions on other types of anti-depressants/anxiety meds that worked for them? I'm thinking that I might not be able to handle the SSRI inhibitor meds..

Thank you so much for the information....I am keeping my fingers crossed that this Clarocet will help and I am gonna give it at least a month or so to have a full effect...That webpage you sent me was very helpful in explaining all the different types of anxiety meds...I may bring a couple of those up to my doctor to see what he says about them. I will keep you updated on the effects of the Clarocet...I'm praying that I will finally find something that works b/c these attacks are seriously ruining my quality of life.

Thanks again and good luck to you too!

Keri

Hi Keri,
I know what you are going through. I am suffering from social anxiety and I have had my share of panic attacks which happened in the worst possible place to have one: in public.
There has been talk about benzodiazepines on this forum, some people attacking them (rather exagerating the side effects in my opinion)others defending them. This is something that you should decide for yourself but I definetely recommend looking into it, especially Clonazepam which is a long acting benzo, half life 7 hours compared to Xanax which has a half life of about 2 hrs and is more likely to cause addiction.
SSRI's don't work that well (or at all) for anxiety . Check out this website: www.socialfear.com for more info on SSRI's vs. benzodiazepines.
Best of luck to both of us.
PS:Let me know how or if Clarocet works for you, I was thinking about trying it also.
