"HELP ME -- BENZOs (esp klonipin) WITHDRAW" , Wed 8 Mar 05:26

Hey, I have been using klonipin for a short period of time, about 2-3 months, and only 1mg a day at the very most. I knew it was addictive but I guess I didn't really understand addiction. I thought i meant it could be abused or was mentally addictive because of anxiety. The Things is I am off it now for a week and i don't feel anxiety so much as i am going through a physical withdraw. My muscles are very tense, sometimes i feel like I shiver when its not cold or my teeth chatter. I have occasionally had a random spasm in the leg, and I feel like I am in a fog. Overall I feel very tense, sometimes the muscles in the back of my neck feel heavy and tight and hard to turn. I would LOVE to hear from someone who has been through this. I just wanna know, WHEN WILLL THIS ALL END!! i would greatly appreciate any insite, thank you.

There are a number of tranquilizing herbs such as Valerian, Skullcap, Fennel, Limeflowers, Hops, and others which may ease the transition period when coming off of benzodiazepene drugs and hypnotics.

Hiya,

I'm a drug worker and have seen alot of clients trying to come off medication and I've also been on a number of medicated prescriptions myself and recently reduced and came off two of them. It is hard doing it anyway but the best way is to reduce the amount slowly so that your body can adapt rather than go into shock.

It took me a couple of months to get back to some sort of sleep and to feel a little like me, I was taking zopiclone for over 4 years and I am still feeling the effects now. I reduced my prescription but its still really hard and my sleeping is so bad but I'm trying. I still take some prescription meds and I know there addictive but at times I have little choice so I'm not completely free but at least I'm not popping my little blue pill at night anymore.
good luck and I hope you feel better soon, Pixy x

Hi,
I took Clonazepam for about two months then I gradually decreased the dose when I wanted to stop taking it. This is a very important warning that they give you, and your Doc. should have told you: one should not abruptly discontinue taking it, it's dangerous, you should reduce your dose gradually. Even like this I still experienced some physical withdrawal symptoms and for a few days I felt sick but in time you're supposed to come back to normal. I advise you to talk to your doctor and tell him your symptoms just to be sure everything is going to be ok, I took as much as 4mg and even 6 mg a day and my withdrawal symptoms were not as bad as the ones you are describing.
I was taking it for social anxiety and it worked great, if I don't find any natural alternative that works for SA I'm probably going to go back on it. If you want more info on Klonopin (Clonazepam)visit www.socialfear.com Even if you do not have SA yourself,I suppose you were taking it for some kind of anxiety problem, maybe you could find some relevant information there.

Thanks, I began using bc i had a nervous breakdown and couldnt sleep at night and it halped calm me down. The withdraw effects seem to come in waves, which i hear is common. The most common side effect is that my muscles seem really tense, and so do I. I guess I will just wait it out and see how things go, I've gotten used to waiting, lol.

I am currently going through Clonazapam withdrawl as well, I have been taking 0.25mg a day for 7 yrs, I though it was a small enough amount that I could quit whenever I wanted, I was wrong. The anxiety is very intense during this, I have only been taking it every 2nd day now and I still have sypmtoms after 2 weeks of doing this.
