"Q. about Clarocet (especially for shyboy)" , Fri 3 Mar 02:57:

Hey ShyBoy,
I read your post about Clarocet, I'm happy to hear that it works well for your social anxiety.I wanted to ask you how's it going now and if it is still working well for you and how much are you taking now.I have social phobia too and I was thinking about trying it.
What bugs me about Clarocet is that it contains very little SJW per pill only 150 mg which makes me a bit skeptical of it. You would have to take a lot of pills to reach the recommended dosage (Amoryn has 450 mg of SJW per pill)so SJW can't possibly be a main active ingredient in it.
I think Clarocet relies mostly on all the other ingredients like Passion Flower, Valerian, GABA,Winter Cherry etc. This makes sense because they say that you can feel relief in 30 minutes to an hour which is typical for these sedative plants. This would be the only reason that I would buy it, these other sedative herbs which probably work in synergy with each other becoming a succesful formula that aleviates anxiety.
But then you ask yourself why did they add the SJW and say that you may experience best results in 2-4 weeks, and say it alleviates depression. They also call it a Natural Reuptake Inhibitor hinting to the SJW in it . The dosage that they recommend is 1 or 2 pills, that would be like 150 0r 300 mg of SJW a day which is very insufficient to create results for depression (see Kelly's recommended dosage section).
If you were to take Clarocet for the SJW in it, it simply would not be worth spending all that money. You would need to take 6 pills a day to get to 900 mg a day... a bottle has 60 pills and it would last you 10 days, it costs 32.50 dollars ,if you do the math...
Anyway I'm thinking about trying it myself even though there is still doubt in my mind about it. I was wondering if I could get an update from you as to how you're feeling now and how long you have been taking it and how much it has affected your SA.
If somebody else has had any experience with this product I welcome every opinion, please share. Thank you.

I looked at the Clarocet formula and was skeptical for similar reasons. The dose of St John's Wort is so small, only 150 milligrams per capsule, that it really won't be effective unless you're taking 4-6 capsules every day (which means 2-3 bottles each month).

But that's insignificant compared to what else I noticed: THE HERBS IN CLAROCET ARE NOT STANDARDIZED EXTRACTS... IN FACT, THEY'RE NOT EXTRACTS AT ALL BUT JUST HERB POWDER! This seemed so unbelievable for a "high quality" product like Clarocet that I actually e-mailed them to find out, and they confirmed that all the herbs (including St. John's Wort) aren't extracts, they're just the herb dried and ground into a powder.

Extracts are used for a reason: they concentrate the active constituents (without all the inactive plant matter), which means 1mg of extract might be as effective as 5, 10, or even 25mg of powdered herb. This is especially true of extracts that are standardized for the active constituents (like St. John's Wort for hyperforin).

The effective dose of powdered SJW plant is 2-4g day, or 13-27 capsules of Clarocet every day!

Not to mention the Rhodiola, Valerian, Winter Cherry and Passion Flower aren't extracts either. Clarocet contains 65mg of each, which for standardized extracts would be a smaller, but still probably active dose. But for dried herb? Forget about it.

And the final shady thing about Clarocet is the doses of GABA and Acetyl-L-Carnitine... 15mg and 5mg per capsule?!?!?! What is that going to do? Try multiplying those amounts by 100x and it might start helping.

I obviously can't read the minds of the people who made Clarocet, but all this sure makes me think that their priority was keeping costs low, not making an effective product. Avoiding standardized extracts and using super-small doses of Acetyl-L-Carnitine and GABA sounds like a good recipe for making a supplement that doesn't work, but I'm sure it makes Clarocet way cheaper to produce.

I should say that I haven't tried Clarocet... these are strictly my impressions from a careful examination of the ingredients.

I don't have depression but I have extreme shyness and social anxiety. I am in software industry. I never opened my mouth in meetings. That hurts my carrier. I took Perika SJW for 7 months. I felt overall mood elevation but it didn't help my SAD and shyness.

Then I heard about clarocet and have been taking since Feb 20th. I am very pleased with this product so far. I take one tablet in the morning with breakfast. I can feel the difference already. I feel less anxious in the meetings and when around people. Today's meeting I asked few questions without anxious. That used to be very hard for me. I feel less anxious when I walk around the office. I am going to keep taking this product and hope for the best

does clarocet help with depression at all, you said that you took st johns and it ellivated your mood, do you think that clarocet did the same? I know it has little st johns wort in it but it does also have 5-htp? do you think it would work for anxiety/depression better than st johns wort.

I took SJW mainly for my SAD and shyness. I'm sure it didn't help me on SAD and shyness. Clarocet is alleviating my shyness and SAD.

Shyboy,
How long have you been taking Clarocet and what is your daily dosage..? Are you taking NRI or ERT..? How is the treatment going..? Is it continuing to help your SAD..?

Thanks.

Shyboy,

How long did it take before you started to see results from Clarocet? ie. a few days, weeks, immediately? Have you noticed any side effects from it..mainly loss of appetite?

Hi Deities,
I started taking Clarocet ERT ten days ago. It didn't take long before I began to feel better, maybe two to three days at the most. The last week has been great, in fact I cannot remember a period where my mood has been as good or as stable as the week just gone. I feel a lot happier and productive and have a real zest for life, rather than the "just do what's necessary to get through the day" attitude I've had for a while. I haven't experienced any side effects to speak of, and overall have been very pleased with the Clarocet experience. I just hope it continues like this :)

Cheers,
Wilson.

Can Clarocet be purchased at any major drug store or just herbal places? I haven't really looked for it anywhere yet. I'm looking for something that will take affect asap...I don't have the time and energy for the sjw to start working. I'm tired of feeling exactly how you put it "just do what's necessary to get through the day" The days are getting harder and longer.

Hi Deities,

I purchased Clarocet ERT from Amazon. The company that produces Clarocet (Medicor Laboratories) have their own website (www.clarocet.com) with links to their online store. You can order through there as well.

As for the response time, I began noticing an improvement within two days, and stabilised at the full effect after about ten days. My mood is much better, my social anxiety disorder is basically gone and I have much more energy, enthusiasm and focus during the day. I am sleeping better and feel much more refreshed when I wake up in the morning. All in all I couldn't be happier with the results.

The best part about Clarocet I think is it doesn't feel like a drug effect, as if you're artificially feeling happy for no reason. You still feel normal emotions during the days, it's just that your base mood and confidence are a lot higher - back to normal you might say. I feel like the person I new I was but wasn't able to show because there was something holding me back (depression and anxiety). I would seriously give it a try and see what you think...

Cheers,
Lyndon.

1 month status report

I have been taking Clarocet NRI since Feb 20, 2006. I must tell you all that It is working so far. Overall I have reduced anxiety and improved mood. Before taking clarocet, I was very shy. I afraid to talk in front of others in my team. Now I can get up and talk to someone sitting across me. This used to be vey hard. I am not perfect yet. But I have confidence that with the help of this product I will achieve where I want to be one day.
