"HAIR LOSS ?!?!!!!!!!??!?!" , Thu 23 Feb 18:55:

Hey, I just got diagnosed as haveing mild to moderate depression, and some anxiety. When I was 18 I quit running, and began being really stressed about applying to college etc. At this time I began noticing my hair was thining and falling out, well things got worse and two years later I finally had a nervous breakdown and had to withdraw from college. By now my hair is very thin and noticably so. Has anyone experienced ET hairloss from stress and seen it grow back. Im hoping that being on SJW and exercise will help it come back. Has anyone had this happen bc of being depressed for a long time??? or is this just a genetic/hormonal thing.

Hi,

you should check with your doctor to see if you are anaemic as that is what causes hairloss with me.

Hiya,

When I was younger in my teens, I suffered from hair loss and it used to come out in great clumps,I have no reason why this happened and my hair remained thin for a long time mainly at the front of my head which I used to hide with hair bands or anything I could get my hands on. My hair was really thin and lank, due to even brushing pulling out big clumps, I changed my diet and started to exercise, which really wasn't for the hair more to try and perk my moods up but it has really helped with my thinning hair too. I also found a hairdresser that gave head massages as these stimulate the blood that rushes to the hair folicles. Its not only relaxing but really does help.
I still have thin hair near the front but its much better and I continue to use a really good hairdresser (yes it may cost more but its well worth it) and I make sure I use products that she recommends. But I now have hair that reaches the base of my spine and is much healthier so stick with it, it will get better with time. best wishes pixy x

i also have the samething happening to me its called (telogen effluvinm ) you should read up on it . i went to the dermatology three years ago and he sad it was from stress, this is the second time for me , i just gave birth three months ago and with the after blues my hair started falling out again. there is nothing you can really do, it will go away on its own. you should take multiple vitamin and fish oil.

Thanks, I am pretty sure it is TE, it fits all the descriptions of it. Mine has kinda been a prolonged case. I have anxiety and depression, It started shedding when I stopped running cross country in high school, which is also when the depression got worse. Thanks just wondered if anyone had experienced the same thing
