hi , my name's richard and i am thinking about taking st johns wort after hearing positive things about it.
i have been on anti-depressents for a long time now. i recently changed brands as i was fed up with getting headaches everyday as a side effect. it was exactly the same with the new brand so i made the decision to stop taking them with advice from my doctor. i have not had any now for about a week.
i know your not medical people but from your experience with sjw , how long do you think i should leave it before starting on them?
i read kelly's experiences with sjw and noticed she takes her dose at night just before bed. i'v read on sjw boxes though that your meant to have 1 tablet 3 times a day. does this mean kelly has them all in one go?? what do you think the best time is to take them?
i'd appreciate any help and advice you could give me.

Hi Richard,
I would first tell your Doctor that you intend to take SJW as it's not a good idea to mix prescription antidepressants (PAD) with natural alternatives like Kava or SJW.
Normally you need a healthy gap between the time you stop PAD of approximately 2 weeks, otherwise you could end up with 'serotonin syndrome' which is quite serious.
As per dosage, ideally is 300mg of SJW per capsule with 0.3% hypericins - 1 capsule taken 3 times daily with food.
There is growing research suggesting that hyperforin found in SJW is becoming more important with changing depression/anxiety levels -so look for both of these on the description label.
