with a reputation for stimulating the nervous system, decreasing depression, enhancing work performance, eliminating fatigue, and preventing high altitude sickness. Rhodiola rosea has been categorized as an adaptogen by Russian researchers due to its observed ability to increase resistance to a variety of chemical, biological, and physical stressors. Its claimed benefits include antidepressant, anticancer, cardioprotective, and central nervous system enhancement. Research also indicates great utility in asthenic conditions (decline in work performance, sleep difficulties, poor appetite, irritability, hypertension, headaches, and fatigue) developing subsequent to intense physical or intellectual strain. The adaptogenic, cardiopulmonary protective, and central nervous system activities of Rhodiola rosea have been attributed primarily to its ability to influence levels and activity of monoamines and opioid peptides such as beta-endorphins. Let's face it. There are about ten zillion supplements out there that have similar or related allure. Unfortunately, rhodiola doesn't seem to have much of a following among the people on this board who have tried it, myself included. Many report a very pleasant, even inspirational, initial response to rhodiola. However in most of the posts describing rhodiola, the effect dwindles after a fairly short interval. The oft repeated chorus seems to be:
"Rhodiola was great in the beginning. I wish it had continued."
Like most supplements, it works well for some people. However, for most people rhodiola doesn't seem to live up to its marketers' claims over time.
Of course try it if you'd like. If it works, great.

Hi, I wasn't suggesting herbal alternatives should be taken for the sake of euphoric highs or similar, but RR is used in many supplements in combination with SJW to simply aid with depression / anxiety. Of course corporates will use it for making money (as they do with anything) but that's the world we live in!
I've been on SJW for only 2 weeks, the results seem positive and there are certainly no side-FX, which causes some doubt in my mind if it actually works ??? But as a (former) long term Seroxat user, which did work, but I simply couldn't hack the side-FX anymore.
