"No mention of hyperforin??" , Mon 14 Nov 21:42

Straightforward question:
My SJW (Trader Joe's brand bought recently) is standardized to 0.3% Hypericin, with no mention of Hyperforin. Assuming that Hyperforin is indeed the compound responsible for neurotransmitter reuptake inhibition, is my bottle virtually useless?

Sorry if this has been covered before; I searched several ways, but could not find an answer to this, although some discussions did come close to asking this question.

Hypercin and hyperforin are both believed to be active constituents, although most recent research seems to support hyperforin as being the more important of the two. That doesn't mean your brand is useless -- several people on the forum have successfully taken brands standardized to hypercin only -- but if you don't have success with it you may want to try a brand standardized for hyperforin. My personal experience has been that the hyperforin brands I have tried seemed more potent than the hypercin brands I tried, and research seems to support that.
