Has anybody ever used lexapro in conjunction with St. Johns wort. Also is the brand of SJW sold at vitamin world good?
Thanks

Almost every source on sjw(including this site) advises not to take sjw with ssri medication. I switched from lexapro to sjw once and I didn't realize that lexapro had a withdrawel period. I had a crazy trip which I believe to be serotonin syndrome. See the chart at the bottom of the wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Johns_Wort
So don't take them together, but if you want to switch to sjw, just make sure you gradually get off of lexapro and wait a couple weeks before starting sjw.

I never took both at the same time, however, after taking SJW succesfully for 6 months or so, my DR recommended that I stop taking SJW on the very same day that I started to take Lexapro. For 2 days I felt fantastic, but on the third day I began to have insomnia, diarrhea, incredible anxiety... thought I was going to lose my mind and/or die. I firmly believe that Lexapro and SJW interacted with each other, though my MD will not admit it. So I stopped taking Lexapro, and within 24 hours I felt better. I personally would not take the two together, because they are both supposed to change your serotonin levels, right? So why would you need two "meds" to do that? If the levels are too high, you end up feeling worse instead of better. Good luck.
