Has anyone noticed any particular foods or additives that seem to make their depression worse? It seems as though if I eat chicken, particularly the kind that is rotisserie cooked and available in supermarkets, I feel off track, sort of detached from my surroundings or something. It might be some seasoning used on it, a preservative -- or an overactive imagination. I'm not certain. It also seems to me that depression is more prevalent than it was a few years ago, and I'm wondering if something in our diets may be contributing. I know if I conscientiously eat a diet high in vegetables/fruits and low in saturated fat I feel better, but am wondering if there are specific foods which seem to be good or a problem. Thanks for any input.

I've noticed anything containing MSG causes me to become depressed, and it's a flavor enhancer that's in almost everything, i.e. snack foods, canned soups, frozen foods, many "chain" restaurants. I try to avoid it whenever possible.
