Is there such a thing as someone having temporary depression? I think it is strange how I can feel like my world is falling down around me for a month or so and then suddenly it all comes into perspective and I'm fine again.

i began taking zoloft in order to keep my sanity, but after being on it for a year, i have found out that i have hypothyroidism...hence, the real reason for my mood swings. i recommend getting a complete blood panel prior to taking anything. now i have to wean off the zoloft and have read about the horrible side effects.

Thank you for your response.
So, right now I feel fine and I look back at the way I acted for those couple months and it makes no sence to me... I almost quit my job, moved out of my apartment, and broke up with my boyfriend because I was so over-whelmed. I don't want to feel that way again, is SJW right for me? I know no one here is a doctor, but I need an opinion.

Absolutely. One of the tricky things with depression is that many times it lifts by itself (I think I remember that 6 months is average, but that could be wrong) so it can be hard to know if the treatment has finally kicked in or if your depression has just run its course. However, it might be worth it to try to prevent the relapses.
