hi i got a question in here, i have a sister whos drinking that herba called st.johns wort (and to be exact i really dunno what was that if that drugs is taken through orally, a tablet or tea or whatever.) but what matters most is i knew that this drug is for antideppression ryt? my sister suffers from her deppresion and i think about for 4-5 years and she onced told me about this drug that she used to take. my question is this,, will this drug affect my sisters health? i mean physically or emotionally, bcos as i have read ur page that it contains a weed and got a several side effects, im afraid my sisiter will get addicted to this kind of drug.. im looking forward to ur answer and pls if u dont mind to email me (anyone to read this whos taking that drug, may help me). thank u for a span of time and godbless

hi, I think that if your sister is trying an herbal supplement like SJW to help with her depression that it can't really hurt.

While there might be mild side effects, any side effects that do occur will pass if she stops taking the SJW.

Please keep in mind that although in some countries, like Germany, SJW is often called a "drug" that by US FDA definitions and standards it is not. It is simply a dietary supplement, just like B vitamins, or chamomile tea.

In either case, she should probably speak with a doctor about her depression, and at the very least, let the doctor know that she is taking SJW.
