Hi. Im new to these boards just so u know. Ive been browsing em for a while though.
Anyhow. Ive been on 900mg st. johns wort and 200mg 5-htp for about 5-6 months or so now and it has worked great at really tackeling my depression. Its alot better now. It also has knocked the anxiety down a bit, but i still get panic attacks sometimes and anxiety. So I have decided to get some xanax. I dont go to a doctor, so I have no one to advise me if it is safe.
Will it be ok to take this combination? I plan on just taking a .50mg tab in high anxiety situations only. not daily, just as needed.

Hi Joe,
no, there is no interaction between SJW and benzos. I found the information on a site that`s checking interactions and side effects . I also read a thread on this site concerning same subject and the answer was the same.
I`ve been browsing myself this site for a long time, bought SWJ and 5-HTP and probably will begin taking them tomorrow morning. I guess I still need some reassurance; how long did it take for them to work? Any side effects?

P.S.I took benzos myself for a long time(medazepam), it worked pretty well but began to have problems with the short time memory.

Thanks for the info, that cured my worries!
yea i think the combo of those two really has done great for me. I would say it took 2-3 weeks to see some initial effects. You will just notice one day how easy it is for u to laugh and u r walking around less sad, and more happy and content. After a month and more, you feel much better I would say.
The only side effect I got was the occasional night sweat. People mention alot about vivid dreams, and i think thats what i get sometimes. hard to remember. but it isnt that bad, nothing u shouldnt be able to deal with. I take all my meds at night, cus it also may make you kind of drowsy the first month after u take them. but that wears off.

P.S. i wont worry about short term memory, cus my memory is already bad for a couple reasons. :)
