Check out this description of an anti-anxiety medication:

The site says that the medication acts by inhibiting the activity of serotonin as a neurotransmitter, as I understand it. However, the site also says that the medication is often used as an augmenting agent to combat depression. I'm confused, how can a medication simultaneously inhibit serotonin receptors AND boost SSRI efficacy?
This thread is off-topic of SJW, but it's important towards understanding the action of serotonin, which SJW probably affects.
