Hi,
I have been taking SJW for three weeks now but have had to start a course of antibiotics wef today. I don't want to mix the two but am worried that if I don't take SJW for 4 days that I will be back where I started as I have been told that even if you stop taking SJW for 1 day that you have to wait for it to get back in your system. Is this true??

Hi Vic,
I have just had to start taking penicillin antibiotics for an infection. I asked the doctor if it was ok to take st johns wort with this and she said yes and she checked with another doctor. So I guess that would cover drug interaction and I guess it would cover wether antibiotics work when takien with st johns wort. Four days on I ok but I must finish my course of pencillin. By the way I take my st johns wort an hour after taking my penicillin as I take 3 st johns wort and 3 penicillin at moment. i do skip the occasional st johns wort generally just through being forgetfull. I have been on st johns wort 18 months and it has changed my life from the way i was originally. hope this helps .

Thanks for your reply fairy. I did decide to stop taking sjw as a precaution but will start taking again now. Not sure if tablets are working yet as only been taking for three weeks and taking a low dosage of 150mg per tablet(as recommended by lady in shop I brought them) But I will keep going with these tablets and see what happens. Really good to hear sjw working so well for you

Hi Vic,
I take the kira brand of st johns wort they are £10.00 for 50 , and I take three a day at different intervals. i started with kira as they have had extensive testing and trials done on them in germany . this variety you can buy a one a day one . But to be honest I have got used to taking three a day , I do skip one quite regulary. Also st johns wort you are in control and can address any problems . I am not knocking anti - depressants as everything has their place. St johns wort may take longer to get to the place you want to get , you know that you will feel right when you get there. Its just a more subtle journey and you are in control. I reduced my dosage to two other two months a few months back, and to be honest its hard to know wether I was thinking my self into the fact that I felt worse, so I upped them to 3 again. I would like to stop them eventually as I want to know how I feel with out them as they have been my crutch and I swear by them. depending on how you feel vic see how you get on on your dosage , you may only need them subtly you may need them a bit more. I know with my ones they say 3 a day to treat depression /anxiety also my doctor says 3 a day. Also I have switched to green tea as I know caffeine can cause anxiety, not cause it but contribute even more to someone predisposed i guess to anxiety. If I didnt get anxious I would drink it galore, we all need to feel some anxiety in life but its when its too much!. It has really helped me sjw i was so fatigued ,tearfull ,no enthusiasm ,get up and go, no lustre for life . I have occasional times when I am tearfull, I dont know about anyone else but I think suffering with it like I did back then has made me more sensitive so to speak in personal friendships and daily life and sometimes blowing different perspectives in my mind about situations (yes maybe a little paranoid in a normal sense!)a little bit more than usual. Stick with it vic and depending on what you need from it I am sure it will help. I know so many people who take sjw and they all have positive things to say about its powers!All in ( 4 people I know take it through me saying about it ( when they were saying they felt they needed something)..
so goodluck with it sorry I have rambled on. It is nice to have postivity on st johns wort, In the beginning I noticed subtle changes from 2 weeks but not fully till possibly 6 - 8 weeks . X fairy
