Does anybody know if it would be safe to combine SJW and Amoryn and Seredyn, or should I just try one at a time???? I really need my life back. I just ordered Perika brand from iherb.com and now gonna order some Amoryn and Seredyn and was wondering if I could take them together.....thanks

Hi ragu,
The main ingredient in Amoryn IS St. John's Wort so there is no need to take another brand of St. John's Wort, like Perika, along with it. The difference is that Amoryn also contains 5-HTP and B vitamins.
Perika is a very good brand and you could go with it alone but you will have to take quite a few pills. On the Amoryn website they have some interesting info about a new study that found hyperforin (from SJW) to be as effective as Paxil, match your doses to those used in the study. For example you have 9grams of hyperforin per Perika pill. You need to start at 45 grams of hyperforin a day so five Perika pills a day would be the starting dose.
I have been taking Amoryn for five weeks now but I won't say anything until six weeks have passed.
I have tried Seredyn in the past and it had no effect whatsoever on me even at very high doses so I would not recommend Seredyn to anyone.
I personally found that Kava Kava helps me a lot with my anxiety, I posted about it in the Brands section of this forum if you want to check it out.
I hope that you will have good results with whatever you choose to go with.
Peace

HI

I POSTED ON BRANDS BUT I SEE THAT YOU TAKE AMORYN AND YOU SAID YOU DO NOT RECOMEND SEREDYN? I AMD TAKING 2 AMORYN AND 2 SEREDYN A DAY PLUS MORE SEREDYN WHEN I START TO PANIC IT'S ONLY BEEN 9 DAYS SINCE I STARTED TAKING THEM AND FOR THE PAST THREE NIGHTS I HAVE HAD MORE ANXIETY HAVE YOU EXPERENCED THIS? WILL IT STOP AND GET BETTER DO YOU THINK? SO FAR OTHER THAN MORE ANXIETY I NOTICE NOTHING BUT I HAVE NOT GOTTEN TO THE 6 WEEK DEADLINE WHICH THEY RECOMEND. WILL KAVA HELP TO TAKE AWAY MY PANIC WHEN IT STARTS?
I SO BADLY WANT TO FEEL BETTER AND I AM STARTING TO FEEL AS IF I NEVER WILL I WANT TO JUST BE ABLE TO RELAX AT NIGHT AND TO REST AND I DONT KNOW WHAT THAT IS ANYMORE. I'M GLAD I FOUND THIS SITE
I CAN TALK TO PEOPLE WHO CAN RELATE.

Hi Gina,
They do say on their website that Amoryn may actually increase your anxiety in the beginning and that is because of the 5-HTP in it. They also say that it's not a lasting side effect so it should pass.
I wouldn't recommend Seredyn because it didn't have any effect on me but then again that is only my experience. At any rate it can't hurt you or make your anxiety worse.
One thing that I can say for sure about Amoryn is that it did give me a deeper more restful sleep than I have experienced in a long time. That is one of the effects of the St. John's Wort in it and I read of other people who got this effect from taking SJW.That should be something to look forward to.
As far as Kava goes I can only say that it had a very good effect on my social anxiety. I don't know about panic attacks...At any rate it's a good relaxant/sedative.
Valerian is also good for sleep.
You seem distressed...if this is something very serious, or urgent, that requires immediate attention don't hesitate to talk to your doctor about it.
Peace

Hey Rob,
Thanks for the response, I'll be very interested to hear what you have to say about Amoryn after 6 weeks, anyways, well I think I'm gonna start with the Amoryn and see how that works first. You know I thought I read something about Kava Kava, like it's really really bad for your liver and it was on the market and then brought off or something like that, are you sure it's all that safe?

They say it is toxic on the liver in high doses and taken for a long period of time, or if you already have liver damage or you're a heavy drinker etc. I also read an article written by a toxicologist (or something like that:-)= and this guy said that it's not toxic at all. I don't know...
Do some research if you want to use it and then you decide if it's worth it or not, there are a lot of articles about it online.
Personally I don't use it everyday, I just keep it for occasions (I have social anxiety disorder) like a job interview, going to church etc.
