I'm posting this message for my wife (she's in a psychiatric hospital) hoping to get some feedback from those out there that have suffered through this. My wife is a 34 year old suffering from really bad anxiety and now depression. For the last 6 weeks it has been really bad, so bad she ended up in a psychiatric care hospital in order to get help because she was having constant panic attacks from this anxiety.
She has been on Effexor XR (now 150mg) for 3 weeks, Klonopin for 1 week, Buspar for 1 week and now they're giving her Seroquel. I have seen very little improvement in her for this time, the doctors keep saying the meds need more time for her to really enjoy the benefits. The sad thing is she still feels bad and she might end up in the hospital for a few weeks before she can leave unless she leaves on her own will but she's afraid to do that thinking she might end up with another panic attack.
Along with this anxiety comes chest pains which make it even harder for her to deal with her condition or even leave the hospital. I've read some of your forums and see that her condition is not so unique and that some of you are treating yourselves with natural medications which I've always felt are the way to go if they really work.
I've been trying to do some reading and have stumbled across some sites that recommend certain medications such as Anxietol 7, Welatonin, Pinadol. I will like to know if any of you have experience good results with any of these or other natural remedies. I miss my wife and I really want to help her so any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I am really sorry your wife is going through this hard time. I don't have personal experience with any natural anti-anxiety products, but from what I have read here it is my feeling they are more suitable for less severe symptoms than your wife is having, and I think it may be best at this point to listen to her doctors. Unfortunately many medicines, including natural remedies, do take some time to work, and three weeks may not have been long enough for the effects of some to be apparent.
If you have not done so already, ask the doctor specific questions about each medicine -- what each does, how long before each might show results, common side effects etc. When you are given several medications at a time each is going to have an effect. Your wife's doctors are likely to have the experience to be able to sort out what is and is not working for a particular individual, and I think you have a better chance of seeing improvement with some knowledgable advice at this point.
Try to keep the communication lines open, and try to give the process its time. Finding the ideal medications and treatment is not an easy process, even with the natural remedies, and there inevitably seems to be some degree of trial and error involved. Hope you see some progress soon, and hope others with more specific experience respond.
