I am an american living overseas. I could never find SJW here so I stocked up in the States. Problem now is that I have two bottles that are a year old. They have not been opened and have been in a cabinet that's been climate controlled etc etc. I've been taking it for a few days now and it does not seem to do anything. Can it still be used? Does it really expire or could the effects/usefulness just be deminished?

It's probably like any other drug in that sense. It would be fine to take them, but they likely lose their potency over time. Provided the bottles are sealed and climate-controled as you suggested, you have the most ideal conditions for preserving them.
