I'm currently taking 900mg daily of St John's Wort, have been for 5 weeks. My state of mind has taken a massive step backwards and I wish to go back to a prescription anti-depressant for the time being. Does anyone know how long should I wait after coming off the St. John's Wort before starting the anti-depressants

My doctor told me you can start straight away after stopping SJW, and my prescription was for a tricyclic antidepressant.

hi i read it takes about 14 days to get out youre system
then you can begin perscription meds
hope this helps

If it's an MAOI,then you have to wait 14 days.If it's an ssri,you can pretty much start back immediately.In fact,I've taken 900mg of SJW and 20mg of Prozac at the same time with good effect,no signs of serotonin syndrome at all.
