"Anxiety, jealousy, nagging thoughts..." , Mon 16 May 23:12

Hello everybody

Just found this site as I was looking for information on St John's Wort. I thought I'd post here as I am interested to know if anybody has tried St John's Wort for anxiety that is related to jealousy and other insecurity issues in a relationship. I have sort of become obsessed with something that was reality quite a while ago and I cannot get it out of my mind - I keep feeling that my boyfriend is still doing the same things as he used to do, which I know is not true.

I was seeing a hypnotherapist for a few months and it helped immensely. I learnt some practical tricks to deal with my nagging thoughts. However, I feel that I need something to get over the feelings completely and forever. Needless to say, this is ruining my relationship. I am also wasting a lot of energy ruminating...So I feel that I need something to calm me down and help me to re-train my mind to be able to think more positively and not always think of the worst.

Anyways...I would be very grateful if someone could advise/share their experinces.

Thanks!

Annabell

I was just wondering how you were doing, are you still taking the SJW, and if so, how is it working for you?
I found that I had to decrease the dose and am feeling a little better.
Hope all is well,
Kim

Hello Kim

Thanks for your message. Yes, I am still taking it. Somewhat uncertain in terms of the dosage, it looks like the best option for me is to take one in the evening as I have been getting headaches all the time since I started taking it. May be for other reasons of course too!
Anyways, I am feeling much calmer, it is such a relief. I have been struggling with this for so long and I really started being SO tired of feeling like I did. So this is an improvement. I am sure everyone who is or has been depressed or anxious knows what it feels like and how desperate you can get!

How are things with you Kim? What sort of dosage are you taking at the moment? Does it feel right for you?

All the best

I don't think it is really a good idea, SJW is more for problems related to low serotonin or other brain chemicals and it really sounds to me that this is just a phase.

I wouldn't say it's a good idea that you try SJW.

Well...It has been really getting me down as well. I have felt like I am never going to get rid of the feelings...So now I have started on St John's Wort anyway...And we'll see if anything good comes out of that.

Anyways..Thanks for your post. I do appreciate the fact that you have been using it for quite a while and know much more about it than I do :)

I personally think it's a good idea that you try. Sometimes depression can make you think in certain ways that aren't healthy, and it sounds like you need something to help you get out of a funk that you are in. I suffer from depression/agitation and needed something to take the edge off. I have to say that I am on my 4th week and feeling a "little" better than I was. I think I might have to up my dose or change the way I take it, but I'm trying and I'm glad to see that you are also.
Best of luck to you!
Take care,
Kim

Hi Kim

Thanks for your message. Yes, I feel that I have done so much in terms of the psychological side - I've learnt to be more positive, learnt all sorts of tricks to use when I start feeling insecure and so on and so on...But I have begun to feel that perhaps it is much more physical than I think. Certain things create me to react and there is probably a lot of adrenaline overflow involved also! Jealousy and insecurity issues themselves do need attention, if you have them but you know, I have given them so much attention already! I think it is much more my body "having got used to" reacting to certain triggers and that is what I want to get rid of...

Anyways...I slept so well last night...But then, I usually do :) It was my first day of St John's Wort yesterday and I am already feeling better. Maybe it is just the relief that comes from feeling that I now have a new lifeline, I don't know, but if it is 'placebo', even that does not matter as long as it works (and I am sure it is not placebo).

Anyways Kim, I don't know anything about St John's Wort myself when it comes to dosgae and so on (apart from how much I have been advised to take) so I will let someone wiser give you advise on that! I hope you will find the solution.

Best wishes

Annabell

Very well but if you get serotonin syndrome or any other unexpected side effects you will NOT come here whining about it or tell your friends not to try it.

SJW is a "faddy" thing just now and just like every other faddy thing people try it when they have a bad day and end up with the wrong effects, and then claim it's unsafe when it was their own stupid faults. Sorry but that's just the way I feel.
