"Phosphatidyl Serine / Phosphatidylserine" , Tue 3 May 23:00:

Hi Everybody,

Has anyone on the board had any expereience with Phosphatidyl Serine (PS)? Sometimes it's written without the space in the middle. There are claims that it can help regulate the release of cortisol, so that cortisol is released when it should be (in the early morning) and not when it shouldn't be (at night). I believe my pituitary gland and/or hypothalamus is/are damaged and that my cortisol regulation is messed up, causing all sorts of problems. I've only taken the PS for a little while, but it does seem to be beneficial in my particular case at low doses (100 mg just before breakfast). At this level it has been both calming and stimulating (in the best senses of the two words), mostly calming. At higher doses like 200-300 mg / day it becomes overly stimulating to me. It's not a slam dunk / home run solution, but it has been helping so far. I haven't taken it for long yet, so the benefits may or may not last. When I first tried rhodiola and siberian ginseng (separately), they both did good things for me in the very beginning, but over time each became so stimulating for me (even at very reduced doses) that I had to quit them.

If anyone has tried phosphatidyl serine before, whether it helped you or not, could you please share your experience here? Thank you.

Hi there H2Obuffalo

I have been taking Phosphatidy Serine 200 mg per day in divided doses and have found it helpful for sure. I also take other things like B-Vitamins, Gingko and Caffeine so I generally do feel quite stimulated during the day.

The main thing I feel when I added Phosphatidy Serine to my regimen was a reduction in response to stress - I generally feel less 'jumpy' on it... this would make sense from the cortisol lowering effect it is supposed to give. If I could afford it I would buy it in powder form and try larger doses - that may be a powerful blow against anxiety for me....

Hope this helps
Visionary
