Topic Title: L-Dopa anyone?

L-Dopa is a common treatment for Parkinson's, which is caused by a shortage of dopamine. For those who find SJW or 5-HTP unhelpful you might be looking at the wrong neurotransmitter. If you are anhedonic (unable to experience pleasure) , have no motivation, and suffer from cognitive problems (ADD/learning disabilities), you probably have low dopamine, not serotonin. Dopamine is the "other" major player and it makes sense because it's relationship to the motivation/learning/pleasure/reward axis.
There is a natural form of L-Dopa out there that is derived from the mucuna pruriens plant. Various manufactures carry it, much like 5-htp, and the cost is relatively low.
The drug companies have now jumped on the dopamine bandwagon and products like Welbutrin are SDRI's (selective dopamine reuptake inhibitors). Btw, dopamine increases sexual interest and serotonin lowers it.

Thanks. This is helpful. This sounds alot like me.I have trouble enjoying ANYTHING. Everything is a chore. I tried Wellbutrin and it made me anxious. Any idea if this stuff contributes to anxiety? I think I might give it a try, as the rest haven't worked-especially 5htp which seems to make me more depressed.

Don't you need to take carbidopa with it too?
What about L-Tyrosine?
