"should I go back on tranquilizers???" , Wed 27 Apr 10:39

I appreciate any advice. I have tried SJW, 5htp, gotu kola, relora, rhodiola, kava, valerian, scullkap, gaba, tyrosine, phenylalanine, and probably others I can't remember now. All worked in one way or another but didn't provide much relief and some made my depression or anxiety worse. Sam-e worked the best out of all but aggravated my depression. I am hesitantly considering going back on prescription tranquilizers. Anyone have any suggestions before I do that?
Anything is appreciated.

Try paroxotine (Paxil in USA). It should relieve both anxiety and depression, and it did to a significant but not complete extent in my experience with it. Also, you can probably stay on PAXIL longer than you can stay on tranquilizers. I think your body builds up a resistence to them, the same way your body builds up a resistance to another depressant, alcohol.

Paxil does have sexual side effects and can make you emotionally numb. However, it should be very effective with anxiety and depression. Worth a try, if you've exhausted other outlets.

Can you give me a brief synopsis of how each of the medications you listed affected both your anxiety and depression? It would be useful for me to know.
