hi
i'm planning on taking sjw for mild depression, i'm already taking metranidazole for an infection and am wondering if it's ok to take both toghether, can anyone help please.

Not to take any other medications while on antibiotics is one of the most important recomendations in pharmaceutics... when you expose an a microrganism to an antibiotic, if it doesnt kill it there is a very good chance that it will develop a tolerance to this antibiotic. when taking a medication than can mask the effect/absortion of an antibiotic, you might be making it weaker and still allowing the microrganism to be incontact with it and survive to it
when that happens not only you will not be able to treat infections wih this antibiotic again, but you will be contributing to the creation of more resistant strands of microrganisms
please dont do that ;)

Hi

From what I have read SJW has some antibactirial and anitviral properties. So it will help you to take SJW while sick.

I would wait 2 -3 hours after the anitbiotic dose to take the SJW. I am attributing that to the fact that when you take a probiotic (which everyone should take when on antibiotics to replenish the good bacteria because antibiotics kill the good and bad) anyhoooooooo you are supposed to wait for 3 hours in between taking a probiotic and an antibiotic.

I was on an antibiotic while taking SJW in March and didn't have any interactions or problems, but I waited the dose and didn't take them together.
