I am looking into starting a over the counter anti depressant. I have taken Prozac in the past, but I cannot afford that now and had a really hard time coming off of it...I also took paxil in the past, but I am not so anxious now as depressed...
I have been reading about both of these and I have NO clue which one to get...my biggest fear, is that one will take too long to go into effect, and weight gain...I do not want to gain weight and I want pretty much immediate results...I am tired of my loved one's suffering from my mood swings and fits of crying...can anyone tell me which is better? and why?

I'm no expert but I've tried both these treatments. I'm currently taking SAM-e at the moment and finding it extremely pleasant. I'm currently going through a bad patch in my life and decided I need something to help me get through the day. I didn't want to take any prescription medications so I chose SAM-e. I still have bad days, but thankfully more good days compared to bad ones. I know that SAM-e can work very fast in curing the blues compared to SJW (days instead of weeks), but it is very expensive when compared to SJW. I was originally paying £40 for a 3 week supply of SAM-e but I have recently started purchasing my SAM-e off ebay which is alot cheaper.
