Topic Title: can SJW cause muscle spasm?
| | "can SJW cause muscle spasm?" , Fri 15 Apr 07:14
Newbie here with an odd side-effect question. I started SJW a few months ago, with modest improvement -- enough to keep me using it. However about a month ago I started getting frequent spasms in my left eyelid. Nothing visible to anyone else, but I can definitely feel it. It's been a month now and still no sign of going away. It's just a minor nuisance, but I would hope it is not permanent. Other than the coincidence of timing, I don't have any reason to believe it is from the SJW, and I don't see any mention of it anywhere I have researched.
Has anyone here had or heard of a similar side effect? thanks

I've been getting muscle spasms in my eyelids for years - it has never coincided with taking any sort of medication. In fact, I can't really say that it has been caused by anything in particular - it's just one of those strange things that your body does every now and again!!!!!

I'm glad this topic came up because I have been wondering the same thing, though not just for SJW, but also for SSRI antidepressants and 5-htp. I have been taking 5-htp daily for the past 3 years and I took SSRI's for about a year before that. About 2 years ago I started to have 'bouts' of visible muscle twitches that happen in different areas over my body. They usualy happen when I am at rest (like when I'm at the computer or laying in bed). Sometimes they happen many times a day for many days, although sometimes I don't get them at all. Until recently I thought they were basically a result of stress/anxiety and possibly lack of exercise (the twitches seem to go away when I am more active), but now I have considered that this may possibly be a side effect of 5-htp. I have also read many anectdotal experiences that people have had muscle twitches/spasms as a side effect from taking antidepressant drugs or as a withdrawal effect from the drugs.
