Hi I am new to all of this too. I just bought some SJW @ walmart the only brand they had is called spring valley it says it is stadaardized to 0.3%of Hypericin. I am wondering what the main difference is between Hypericin and Hyperforin. I know that results vary per person, but I am trying to figure out what might be better for me. I would appreciate your insite. Thanks!!

I was reading an interesting article on the web about hypercin and hyperforin. Apparently hyperforin is more stimulating and hypercin is more calming and sedating. This could explain why brands standerdized to hyperforin are more stimulating and can cause anxiety such as perika and amoryn. This article also says that hypercin works like an MAOI and hyperforin works more like an SSRI. That is why researchers say that St. John's Wort does the job of both SSRIs and MAOIs.

Thanks for all the help!! In my case it sounds like hyperforin would be better for me. I saw somewhere that amoryn is stronger then perika is that true do u know? also where is a good place to get either of those? Thanks again for all the input!!

You can get amoryn from www.amoryn.com and perika can be bought from many websites, do a google search for perika, I know it can be bought from amazon.com and www.iherb.com Amoryn is supposed to be stronger than perika because it is standerdized to 5 percent hyperforin and it also contains other things like 5 HTP and B vitamins, I would advise you to try both because they don't work for everyone and only by trying them both can you decide which one is best for you.

I wouldn't advise you to go with the cheap stuff. I personally have tried 4 brands, and 2 did nothing whatsoever.
Go with the big names on this kind of thing, because if you try a cheapo one and nothing happens, and never try it again, you could be missing out.

Thanks I will remember that. I wasnt really trying to get cheap stuff it was just the only brand they had. And being new to it I didnt know that it made that much difference as long as it had the standardized .03%. I think I am going to try some with the hyperforin any suggestions on brands? Thanks again!!
