Hi all
I've felt midly depressed for the last 3-4 years. It hasn't prevented me from leading a seemingly "normal" life: I sleep and eat regularly, and I'm able to perform more or less properly my job.
However, it's been a long time since I can't enjoy the good things life has to offer. I barely experience any emotions, good or bad; I've lost pretty much my interest in the things I've always liked, as music, movies, reading; now they're just pastimes I don't enjoy nowhere near as much as I used to do. My sex drive has almost totally disappeared. I've always been a pretty introverted guy, but now I'm becoming a hermit; everybody annoys me. Loud sounds upset me.
Things have become worse in the last 2 months, so I felt encouraged to find a remedy. I've doing some research on St. John's Wort, and today I finally bought some. I'm gonna start taking it tonight. According to the recomendations found in the package, the recommended dosage is 400 mg. per day, so I'll beguin with that. Let's see how it works.
Has anyone of you got similar depression symptoms? Did SJW help you?. Thanks for your answers.

I've taken SJW for only 2 days, but there are noticeable results already. That horrible feeling of being "down" has disapperared and I fell a bit more cheerful and eager to enjoy life. Another change is that I'm able to think and do things faster. Great improvement for only 2 days, uh?.
I'm taking a swiss brand named "Deprinol", produced by Dr. Dünner. In the package it says that the SJW used to produce it has been ecologically grown and that the pills contain a concentrated extract of fresh SJW. It might be stronger than other brands, because even tough I'm taking only 400 mg per day, it's seemingly working.
So far so good. It might be just a placebo effect, but the important thing it's that it seems to work. I hope that continues.

I've been taking 900mg SJW per day since 01/01/05, and I feel so much better. I'm calmer, more relaxed, and much more positive than I had been. I'd certainly suggest that you up your dosage to 900mg, and continue to take SJW. You will certainly feel the benefit.

I live in the UK and use Holland and Barretts own brand. Works well for me.

The standard dosage is actually 900mg per day. Taking 400mg may be rather lacking for any short/long-term effect. You can find this dosage standard all over the literature on SJW.
I too suffer from mild depression with symptoms inclusive of the ones that you are currently suffering from. I have just started for about a week and SJW has taken some effect on me with more feelings of energy and positive mood. Normally I hear that SJW takes about 3 weeks to take full effect (on a 900mg per day dosage). You can search the discussion board for the experiences of many, especially in the separate sub-category dedicated to this.
