Hi,
I've suffered quite badly from depression for the previous 7 years and have been taking effexor (75mg daily) for the previous 5 years. I am sick of this drug as the side-effects are unpleasant and it is almost impossible to stop taking it because of the horrible withdrawal symptoms. I've decided to stop taking Effexor (I will reduce dosage over a couple of months which I've managed to do before) and start taking SJW. Question is - how long after my last Effexor pill must I wait before I can start using SWJ? If its weeks then I'm scared of going Cold Turkey again as I just managed 3 months without taking anything and it was pure hell.
Thanks in advance (I'd rather trust users of this site as my doctor has proven to be totally useless treating my depression).

My doc says that the effexor should be out of your system in about 5 days but . I didn't take SJW for 14 days after the meds because I felt that if I was still having some withdrawal then there must still be some drugs there . IM just funny like that . But it was worth the wait for me . Im doing very well on amoryn . Ive been on it now for about 5 weeks or so not sure of the exact date .

I just happened on your forum and wanted more information on Amoryn. How has it helped you? I am currently weaning off Effexor (going slowwwww...) and looking into natural remedies. Has anyone out there tried Anxietol-7?

It has made it possible not to have to take Meds for anxiety and panic attacks . Im going places and doing things like I did years ago with out the problems .

I think I can manage 5 days as I seem to remember it took about 2 weeks before the side-effects really hit me (really dark mood and feelings of anxiety). I started withdrawal from effexor last August and it was late November before i took my last pill (gradually started missing out days until I was only taking a pill every third day - gradual withdrawal has always worked best for me with this drug). Unfortunately, I had a relapse in March and had to start taking it again. I hate effexor - this drug has changed my personality; most of my positive emotions are now totally numbed out whether I take the drug or not. I'm desperate to start controlling my depression with SJW, together with a daily B-Vitamin Complex, Miltivitamin and Fish Oil supplement.
