Topic Title: Dosage / drug interaction / PKD

Hi everybody.
I have taken SJW for a month now, and it has started to help me. I would like to discuss a couple of matters with other sjw users.
1. Dosage. What is your experience with different dosages ? I started out with 600 mg (1.8 mg hypericin), doubled dose after 2 weeks to 1200 mg (3.6 mg hypericin), went back down after a week and a half. The double dose boost helped me. A German drug trial has used up to 1800 mg/day - anyone tried such high a dose ?
2. Drug interaction. Has anyone experienced interaction with hypertension medicine?
3. PKD I have polycystic kidney disorder - Please tell me your experience if you have pkd and has used sjw.
Cheers J C

Dear J C: I can only comment on the dosage. I initially started with the dosage recommended on my bottle (1pill 3X/day). However, after 8 wks. I really was not noticing the kind of changes noted by others on this web. I upped my dose to 2 pills in the A.M. 1 at noon and 1 before bed. I now feel it is finally kicking in! I take Perika, but I am willing to change if there are no further improvements. I am now on my 9th wk. I do not have any side effects from the increase that I have noticed. I did when I started SJW. I am female, 5'4" and 130 pounds, so weight and build don't seem to be an issue (I hope I don't glow in the dark or anything years from now!). Good luck to you.

Hello, I also use Perika and have done so for almost 2 years now. I felt that the recommended dosage on the bottle (300 mg, 3x per day at meals) was not enough for me and eventually doubled the dosage. I have now cut back some as the effects were too strong - such as feeling very light-headed and "spacey". I moved back to the rec. dosage but feel it is too low for me. So I am adding one extra pill per day to see how that effects me. I belive that the "recommended dosage" is basically a "minimun" and it is ok to increase it. One study in Germany that I read about said that it was safe to take up to 3600 mg per day. Again I would say this depends on your individual experience and how depressed you may be. I hope this helps.
