Hi. I was wondering if anyone has suffered the side effect of constipation while taking SJW. If so, does this eventually go away after longer intake of SJW? Thanks!

Yes, I have been experiencing the constipation and also High Blood pressure. The constipation has been with me for at least two weeks and am hoping that more fiber will help.

Yes I also am experiencing this and I am eating a high fiber diet plus fiber supplements. So, it is the SJW. I am also experiencing dry mouth in the morning and increased thirst. I was starting out at 2 per day of the Life brand taken in the am and early afternoon. I found that the next morning my anxiety was really high. When I added the 3rd pill just before bed, the morning was better in terms of anxiety. I am not getting headaches with this brand but am noticing the sedative effect. Just kind of mellowing me out. So, not happy happy but calmer.

I noticed the constipation early on also. I started drinking more water throughout the day (and eating more chocolate at night!) and this seems to help. I don't drink coffee any more, but when I did, I found it worked as a laxative on me. I think the 3 pill dose probably absorbs a lot of liquid from your system. Listen to your doctor, drink more water! If you can't increase your water intake, an over the counter gel tab called Colace will also help. Ask for it at the pharmacy. Hope this helps.

Everyone seems to get side effects while "adjusting" to SJW....give it a week and see if it goes away. Luckily the only "side effect" I got was a permanent feeling like it was a warm sunny afternoon....which I actually wish had stayed.

Thanks all. Did you guys experience any other side effects (esp sexual)? Does SJW make your anxiety worse?

No, I haven't noticed any other side effects besides the minor constipation. Sexual side effects are the BIG reason I have never taken any of the typical depression meds. I've already given up smoking, almost all drinking, chasing married women, riding a motorcycle without a helmet, and most other things your doctor tells you aren't good for your health. I really didn't want to give up sex as well. Talk about depressing thoughts! Put your mind at ease, the SJW has made me feel more positive, less anxious and if anything, has improved my sex life since my attitude is more mellow. Hope your bf starts feeling better soon.
