"Saying farewell to SJW" , Sat 26 Mar 10:03

Hello everyone,

After six months of being on SJW and 5 HTP, I have decided to take my MD's advice. I'm going to begin treatment for social anxiety, OCD, and an eating disorder with 10 mg. of Lexapro. I am not whole-heartedly okay with my decision, but my thought is, "I'll never know how much better I could be unless I try."
I figure that I could always wean off the medication, and start something else of it doesn't work out for me.

My condition prominently runs in my family, and I think that I might need something stronger than SJW. While taking SJW, I felt just okay, and with a switch to Perika two months ago, very foggy headed, fatigued, and headachey.

I fear a few things in starting Lexapro:

1. Side effects (particularly weight gain and sexual side
effects - can't afford either!)
2. Withdrawals after stopping. May need to quit to start a family in a few years. Don't want to be depressed while pregnant!
3. Worsening my condition by starting a stronger drug, i.e., getting my body used to an SSRI, so that it might always need to be on one.
4. Dangers in being on a conventional drug long-term or for life.

I've heard good and bad feedback about Lexapro. Since it's the one my MD put me on, I'm clinging onto the positive for hope, that Lexapro is well tolerated and more mild than the rest of the SSRIs.

Please, if you have any thoughts or experiences you can post for me before I take this huge step, please let me know. Also, any suggestions on how to wean off SJW and start Lexapro?

Sincerely,

Onelove
