I forgot to mention the GABA uptake inhibition theory of SJW in addition the old MAOI theory. In truth, however, I don't think the in vitro pharmacology of SJW is known. Does the drug have any affinity for any of the monoaminergic transporters (or does it have active metabolites that do)?
