Topic Title: Please need advise!!!!

Hi, Does anyone know if SJW can cause a hair loss like the other anti-dipressants? I know that SJW is a natural supplement but I'm still worried. I had alopecia for 7 years now because of the stress. I have a chronic stress, but I refuse to take the prescription anti-dipressants because of their side effects, especially hair loss. I want to give a SJW a chance, but I don't want to loose any more hair. So, please any advice whould be appreciated. Thank you.

I got acne, and I started losing a lot more hair when I was taking St. John's Wort. I posted here a couple of months ago to see if anyone else had experienced hair loss, and no one responded that they had. So, maybe this is only a rare side effect. I quit taking it because it seemed to be making me more depressed, lethargic, and achy.
I, too, have hair problems. I am finally noticing a difference now after taking vitamins for 6 months. MSM really seems to help with growth rate, and fish oil and B vitamins seem to help with hair quality (no longer brittle, shiny). I just found this website, which includes some vitamin and amino acid recommendations:

Hope this helps.

Hi,
Have just been checking out the site, as I started taking SJW for mild depression about 4-5 months ago, and have slowly noticed my hair falling out more and more, to the point where my hairloss was becoming almost more upsetting than my reasons for originally starting the drug. I dont remember having any problems with hairloss before, and assumed it must be stress-related.
I wish I had seen this site a few months ago, as yours and others comments would have been so useful.
I may now try cutting down my dose, to see if this has an effect. Thank you so much for also pointing out this possible link.

Wolkig, thank you for your reply. I'm sorry that you had to experience all that from taking SJW. I guess you're right. Maybe this is a rare side effect, because not so many people have it. Unfortunately, I've always been unlucky one so maybe I should deal with my stress some other way.
Anyway, I'm glad that you're doing better by taking vitamins. By the way thank you for the link. It was very helpful.
Best wishes,
Karina

Hi! My hair was thinning before sjw,I take coral calcium, fish oil, progesterone cream by life-flo,b-complex,and someone told me about ashwaghanda for anxiety,I've been on the ashwaghanda for 2 days which I'm liking the energy, but back to the subject,my hair got better with the progesterone cream they also have this for men and I was watching a doctor on tv last week(female)experiencing hairloss and she said use rogaine for men not women that it is stronger so I emailed rogaine and asked if there was any interaction with sjw and they said no,so maybe some of this info will help, stress and nerves will make your hair fall out.
