Hi, I was just wondering if anyone here has experience with using OPC grape seed for ADD and knows if it works or not. Thanks.

Goo42:
Yes I have been trying a combination of OPCs (Grape Seed extract and Pine Bark extracts) for my ADD inattentive type (rather than hyperactive ADHD) for the past 3 weeks. I take a combination of expensive local Australian brands because I want to give this supplement the best chance to work on me. The brands are Masquelier's Grape Seed (47.5 mg per capsule) and Horphag's Pine Bark Extract (35 mg OPC per tablet). I take 2-4 of these pills throughout the day, the dosage depending on whether I remembered to bring the pills with me in the daytime. Oh yeah at the moment I am also taking Zinc, Magnesium and Strong Vitamin B complex formulation as well.
The results seem to definitely be there at this point. For the first couple of weeks I didnt feel too much improvement other than an increased feeling of well-being but I noticed in the last few days at work that there was definite improvement. I have been unusually interested and attentive in chatting about mundane matters with fellow staff members and unusually attentive to what customer's wanted. However I do notice that the effects wear out after 4-5 hours after taking a pill.
However overall I feel that I will be using the Grape Seed/Pine Bark extract for many years to come (as long as there is no tolerance in my body built up) in combination with other Vitamins/Minerals/possibly Essential Fatty Acids, exercise and a low carb/high protein diet. This is because as well as clearly helping with the ADD they have a positive effects on other areas of health/anti-aging such as possibly preventing cancer through stong anti-oxidant action and improving my skin's appearance. I feel using a supplement like this is a much better option than using amphetamines for my ADD.
I would be interested in finding out what natural supplements/herbs you or other people have tried for ADD and whether they worked for them.

I too, am the inattentive ADD type, and I just recently decided to try Rhiodola, since it is supposed to be good for memory, concentration, irritability, anxiety, and attention span...all the things I have the most trouble with, especially at school. I've only been on it one day, and I'm going to be experimenting with two different brands: Enzymatic Therapy Rhodiola Energy, and Pinnacle Rhodax.
Today I took two Enzymatic Therapy (205 mgs each, Standardized to 3% Rosavins and 1% Salidrosides) before work and found that I was a little less distracted than I would have normally been doing very tedious work, but no noticable improvement in my mood or energy at that time. About 6 hours later, I took 1 Rhodax (170 mgs, standardized to include 30 mg of all 8 essential biomers--whatever that means) and was a little less annoyed by the customers in general, and by the end of my shift I was not as tired as normal, really good considering I was awake before I had to go to work 3-4 hours earlier than I had been waking up all summer for work. The only not good thing I noticed is that for a brief period I had minor problems with my coordination a bit in my hands...kinda fumbly..but that's all.
I think I might have taken too much though..or just took it too late (5 pm) because I'm still wide awake and I still feel like I've got a lot of energy, but a Gotu Kola might do the trick...they tend to knock me out.
