I have been using Perika since January / February. It seems to work for a while (several months) and then it seems to lose it's effect, and I start feeling like crap. At first I took 3 tabs / day spread throughout the day and it had some benefits but slowly it got worse. I then took 3 x day, all at bedtime, and that seem to make a difference for a few months and BAM, it start downhill again. I then tried increasing the dose to 4 x at bedtime and it made some more improvments for several more months, but now it seem to be losing it's effectivness again! Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm tempted to increase to 5 x day, but I'm a little worried to go that high. Has anyone been taking 5 x day? What have been your results? It certainly is a frustrating process!

I think Perika is a brand of St. John's Wort.

Hi, Have you been to a therapist too? I use Aropax and I go to a therapist and find it really useful. Not sure why you are using but I find I need to address the root problem and use Aropax to give my brain a break. If I don't get thereputic help then I am only delaying the inevitable. The drugs give me a chance to consider things clearly and I find I can make better more well informed decisions.

First of all Perika is Natures Way brand of SJW.
Secondly, I am taking SJW so that I don't have to take Paxil (Aropax) or anything remotely like it. I tried a bunch of antidepressants and none of them worked. I've found that SJW has helped but for relatively short periods of time and then it stops. I like the fact that there are very few side effects. I am seeing a therapist, but for other issues. I don't think that they are really related to my problem. Mine seems to be much more physical than emotional. It seems to have been triggered by some hormone replacements (Testosterone) I took last fall. Thanks for the advice, but as I said, I definately don't want to go down the Paxil road like you.

I understand your reluctance to use Paxil, it really is not nice coming off.
