Please can anyone help me, I have come off medication for depression to give SJW a try. I have read lots of messages all contaning this 5 htp, what is this? Do I need to take this as well? will it help me? I have had depression for 2 years and I am at the end and in such dispair. I have been on SJW for 2 wks and I know it takes sometime to start working. Can anyone suggest anyway that I can help myself more?

5htp is another supplement you can use to increase your serotonin levels. Sjw works by preventing serotonin from being broken down in the body, while 5htp increases the amount of serotonin avaiable. You can either use sjw alone, 5htp alone or a combination of both, if your problem is caused by low serotonin.

thanks for your reply. Has this 5htp have a proper full name, where can I look for some. I would love to combine the two together to give myself the best chance, as if this does not work my doctor is talking about try other drugs and I would really like to stay as natural and possibly side effects free.

5-hydroxy-tryptophan. Most health food stores in the U.S. sell 5htp, or you can buy it at iherb.com. I recommend Nature's Way Brand 5htp with b6 and c vitamins.
