I am totally confused about the dosage written on different brands.
I have a tub that says each tablet contains 170 mg of the standerdized extract of sjw containing 500 ug of hypericin, Whats the hypericin bit and if I was heading to try and take 900 mg of sjw a day than is it the hypericin or the standerdized extract that I'm trying to get and what does the ug mean? Hope you can understand me, thanks in advance for your help

I am not sure about the ug bit, but you need the sjw to have a 0.3 percent hypericin content (I think hypericin is the active ingredient) If you want to take 900 mgs, which is the standard dose, you'll probably want 300mg tablets instead of 170mgs, otherwise you'll be swallowing a whole lot of pills. I hope this clarifies a small amount.

Hypericin used to be thought of as the active ingredient in SJW, so all good brands are standardised to contain 0.3% hypericin. Your brand checks out - 0.3% of 170 mg is 510 ug (microgrammes). In 900 mg of standardised SJW, there would be 2700 ug of hypericin, so you'll need to take 5 or 6 of the 170 mg tablets per day.
