Anybody combinding both st johns wort and Rhodiola?I have been using both now for a little over a week.I felt pretty good for about 2 or 3 days but now I am grinding my teeth something fierce at night.Am I over medicating maybe?I take 2 clear minds a day as well as 2 perikas a day.Might be to much.Which if either should I back off on or stop?Perika made me feel pretty good by itself but from what I here about Rhodiola it might be better to stay on..who knows!Any info is appreciated.

I can't point to any immediate medical reason why combinations should be good or bad. But my personal feelings are that the use of combinations is sometimes a sign of impatience or even desparation. If you haven't given tried SJW for 6 weeks by itself, you might be denying yourself the full experience. Add to that the fact that Rhodiola does not yet have the impressive scientific support that SJW does.
I would personally want to experience each substance by itself for a trial period so that I could understand the effects better. But maybe that's just me.

Given that fierce grinding of teeth is what sometimes happens whilst on stimulants such as Ecstacy and Speed, I would say that you are overdoing it. I would guess that the Perika, which is what I am taking on its own with excellent effect, is magnifying the stimulating effect of the Rhodiola.
In addition, Perika is also one of the stronger forms of SJW with enriched hyperforin.
Like you, I also previously tried combining Perika with another substance - SAM-e - with terrible magnifying effects (mania, panic, hallucinations - conducive with an overdose of SAM-e, although I only took a tiny amount). That's why I really believe that the Perika on its own should be enough.
I suppose another thing to consider for people like us who like to try combining things to get the "maximum" effect is: studies have been conducted for SJW, Rhodiola and SAM-e ON THEIR OWN, but I have not come across a long-term study of people taking combinations. Who knows what lasting side effects combinations really have?
Another thing I have found is that since changing my diet in the past week to more fresh vegs, salads, fruit and no chocolate etc, the Perika seems to be working even better and I have reduced from 3 to 2 a day, as I found 3 to be working a little too strongly!!! Anyone else notice such a difference on healthy diet change?

I haven't really been up to speed on this whole rhodiola thing that seems to be sweeping though here, but my understanding now is that rhodiola is basically a stimulant. It seems to get marketed as an "energy booster" more than an AD, and the phytomedicine articles I've read say it is commonly indicated for fatigue/stamina and mental clarity. In terms of desired outcome, it seems to promise a cross between the effects of ginseng, gingko and perhaps guarana.
There is supposed to be a lot of research available in Russia, but most of it is unavailable to the West. From what I can tell, there isn't much research available here yet which establishes a definite role for rhodiola in treating depression or anxiety. That's not to say it won't work, just that it's unchartered territory. If it is primarily a stimulant, is there an inevitable crash or habituation?
As for your comments about good food: yes. I find that good food makes such a difference to my mood that my needs for SJW are reduced.

Thanks for your post Epyx. It does seems like a giant commercial for Rhodiola around here lately. But I can't find much information about it from my usual trusted sources of infomation, so I'm a bit skeptical of it. It does sound wonderful, so I hope the research catches up!
