I am going to try SAM-e. In fact I started it today, but I am so confused about what dose to take. I know that one generally starts at 200-400mg per day and then boosts the dose if necessary. However, I have always found that I have needed large doses of AD's to acheive any relief of my depression, and I want to acheive results quickly. Today I went ahead and took 800mg. No side effects at all.
What dose are people taking? Is it helping? I have read that for depression high doses of SAM-e are sometimes needed....like 1200-1600mg. Thanks for any help!

Hi Crescentmoon,
I started SAM-E at 400mg a day and felt better within a week. After 3 weeks though I had to up my dosage to 800mg because I was starting to slip again. Its been 3 months and I've never had to exceed 800mg. Give yourself a week with your current dose and monitor how you're feeling..you'll be able to figure then if you should take more..everyone is different :) Hope that helps!

Thanks for the advice! :)
I will stick with the 800mg and see how it goes. I just took my second dose today. I like the fact that I don't experience any decrease in energy whatsoever thus far. No sedation.
