Topic Title: Good for getting over a breakup?
| | "Good for getting over a breakup?" , Sat 23 Feb 11:26
Hey everyone! This is actually my first posting on this forum. A month ago, my girlfriend of over 2 years broke up with me. I've been having a pretty tough time dealing with it, and often go thru "waves" of feeling really bad, and then fine again. I've also been dealing with a pretty significant amount of anxiety. I have no history of depression, or any other mental health problems. Is SJW something that I should look into?
Thanks, Ian

Been there done that. Both SJW and 5-HTP helped take the edge off of the really rough days. Good luck to you.

Mystery, Thanks for the response! I plan to start on SJW tommorrow. Quick question, when you were going thru the breakup, how long after did you start on SJW, or were you taking it before? Also.. how long did it take for the effects to take place? Thanks you for help.

I started on SJW about 1 month after. It took me a few days to buy into the idea that it would help. It gave me bad headaches right away so I switched to 5-HTP. That took about 2 weeks to until I really felt a difference. But just knowing that I could and was doing something to help myself helped me get through the interim days. Mine was a long-term relationship and we were getting married. I also sought counseling as it hit me pretty hard and I wanted to make sure I didn't get stuck in the grieving process and wanted to learn from it. By the way, exercise really heped, too. Got me up off the couch and thinking about other stuff than how bad I felt. Best Wishes.

Thanks for the advice! It certainly does help, because sometimes, I feel like it's never gonna get better. Despite that, I know that I'm going thru the healing process and that it's just going to take time. Have you completely gotten over it? How long has it been?
