Well, I have been taking sjw for a few months and currently I am feeling great :-) However, SAD weather is going away and I have also had some changes in my life that are making me feel better. So I am wondering if I should wean off of sjw. If so, what is the best way to drop off? Do I take 1 every other day or split the pills in half? From what I've read cold-turkey doesn't sound like a good idea.

Dear Little one,

I can understand your sentiments about wanting to give up the SJW. I've been taking it for over two years now. When I felt like I didn't need it anymore (about 3 or 4 months ago) I cut it out cold turkey but I couldn't do it. One day I woke up and felt like my head was going to completly explode. I was in agony and went up to the chemist to get some more SJW. I then took 2 pills and felt OK.

Personally I can't wait to get off the stuff ( a number of reasons I won't go into here). I am feeling my way with this (and came to the site looking for advice). Sometimes just missing a dose and other times only taking half. It's a bit erratic and does mess me around a bit. I am going to try to come up with some formula (like take one every other day or just take half every day or whatever, and go from there) I hope you have a better time of it.

Best of luck

Kylie

I'm glad to hear that things are going well for you! I see no reason why you shouldn't just keep taking SJW, for generall wellbeing (check the general experiences forum where there is a message from 'dylanite' who does this).

Should you still wish to stop taking it - you can take comfort in the fact that SJW is not associated with the same withdrawl problems as SSRI's. Last year I decided to stop taking it for a while and simply stopped overnight with absolutely no ill-effects or withdrawl. If you're still worried about this, you could try taking one a day instead of three for a week, then one every other day for a week, then one every fourth day etc etc.
