Afer coming off Depo Provera last year, I was diagnosed with PMDD. After suffering for about 5 months, and refusing to take synthetic anti-depressants, it was suggested that I try St. John's Wort. I have been on it for about 3 months. While all the symptoms have not gone away, they have become manageable, and my menstral cycle doesn't prevent me from living my life anymore.

I must say, when I was younger and tried the synthetics like: prozac, paxil, and wellbutrin, I suffered all kinds of side-effects. Sexual, weight, panic attacks, loss of emotions. Mostly I missed experiencing the feeling of joy that life brings. With St. John's wort, I still feel all my feelings, but none of them are so overpowering that I shut down. Also, thankfully, no panic attacks or sexual side effects. I'm not sure about the weight part. I have gained about 10 pounds in the last 3 months, but not sure if it's due to SJW or something else.
